January 18, 2018 / 0 Comments / in ERP Software, Dynamics 365 for Operations, Microsoft Gold ERP CSP Dynamics Partner, Dynamics Warehouse, Dynamics Mobile / by Nancy Phillippi

Dynamics 365 Mobility in the WarehouseDynamics 365 Enterprise for Operations and Finanice (Dynamics 365 E or even shorter, D365E!) is of course written in HTML 5 which means you can access it from any Internet connection, however it's not always the a good idea to overwhelm staff with forms and pages they don't need to see.  D365E has come with a couple of ways around this; Mobile Apps Tool to create your own mobile apps and Dynamics also has many that they are creating and releasing for customers to use or tweak to fit specific business needs.  The Warehouse Mobile App was released in AX 2012 but this app has changed based on new requirements and technology.  This document outlines the differences in these two warehouse apps.

It's Budgeting Time!

The phrase “It’s budget time” generally produces a groan from everyone who participates in this time consuming, often misunderstood process. I have heard all the arguments on budgets: “It’s just a guessing game,” “How can I possibly know what is going to happen next week let alone 6 months from now,” “I have to add extra expenses because I know management is going to reduce what I submit,” “I don’t understand budgets,” “I don’t have hours to spend coming up with ‘fake’ numbers that are going to be ignored,” and “why do we need a budget if it is not always accurate?”

Inventory Requirements and ERP Selection

Mike Conti has over 20 years experience with helping companies work with business software or ERP (enterprise resource planning).  He took a few minutes and documented some very important issues regarding inventory that should be considered when a business begins evaluating ERP.   As Mike states in his white paper, I have also have heard from prospects numerous times focusing on how long is the field name length of our inventory master file during discovery sales calls.  This is really a mute point since more ERP software solutions have expanded their field lengths or you can extend them easily.   Consider instead the points in Mike's document.

6 Reasons to Choose An On-Premise ERP like Dynamics AX

November 22, 2016 / 0 Comments / in ERP Software, Microsoft Dynamics AX, Cloud ERP SaaS, Dynamics 365 for Operations / by Anita Smallwood

Updated 023/01/2017: John F. Kennedy once said, "Change is the law of life."  This law is not being broken in the ERP world, especially since the release of Microsoft's Cloud ERP solution called Dynamics 365.  Even though Dynamics 365 is the newest release; the purpose of this blog, "6 Reasons to Choose On-Premise ERP" is to examine why it may be preferable to implement Dynamics AX On-Premise.  We have compared and contrasted Microsoft's On-Premise software versus the Cloud solution, as well as delineated how to purchase any of the Microsoft Products below.

While there is convenience and flexibility that comes with cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) technology in particular Dynamics 365, the technology requires applications or apps to deliver some of the functionality once given by Value Added Resellers.  Let me explain further, if your business needs customizations, the code could be changed in AX by your VAR or Microsoft Partner.  Dynamics 365 on the other hand is encapsulated, and any desired changes are made through apps. Even though the cloud platform bounds with connectivity given by Microsoft Dynamics 365 common data model, doubters continue to worry about the vulnerabilities inherent in Cloud and the Internet of Things (IoT). Like discussed briefly earlier, on-premise ERP platforms, offer a higher ability to customize specific features tailored just for your business.

Executive Summary: Dynamics 365 Enterprise Edition is the souped up version of Dynamics AX available in the Cloud, or in a Hybrid model giving your company flexibility to do business from almost any device, at any time as long as a WI-FI connection is available.  The package deal simply called Dynamics 365 includes:

If your business demands an on-premise version, connected apps listed above will not benefit from Power BI, Azure IoT and Cortana without your data being processed in the cloud.
