Inventory Requirements and ERP Selection

August 07, 2017 / 0 Comments / in ERP Software, ERP Implementation, Process Manufacturing ERP / by Nancy Phillippi

Mike Conti has over 20 years experience with helping companies work with business software or ERP (enterprise resource planning).  He took a few minutes and documented some very important issues regarding inventory that should be considered when a business begins evaluating ERP.   As Mike states in his white paper, I have also have heard from prospects numerous times focusing on how long is the field name length of our inventory master file during discovery sales calls.  This is really a mute point since more ERP software solutions have expanded their field lengths or you can extend them easily.   Consider instead the points in Mike's document.

After much anticipation Microsoft has released the system requirements for Dynamics 365 Enterprise for Finance and Operations. This is the June 2017 document is sure to be updated with more client (workstation) requirements but we have been clamoring for Microsoft to release this document.  Some of our customers and prospects do not want to migrate to SaaS or the cloud.  This release also confirms Microsoft's commitment to accommodating all deployment scenarios not forcing its customers to either the cloud or on premise.  The software will be available for purchase or as a SaaS model.   More about that in other articles.

April 14, 2017 / 0 Comments / in ISV / by Nancy Phillippi

Manufacturing is not glamorized even though the industry's multiplier effect is greater than any other industry; for every $1.00 spent in manufacturing, another $1.81 is added to the economy.  Manufacturing as an industry is more complex, not only do manufacturer's have to continually innovate and market products to remain at the top of the competition, but they have to incorporate buying, process planning, research and development, quality control, project management, manufacturing execution, selling the product, and shipping and warehousing.
